BBC Arts, a new digital platform, backed by the Director General to go live in time for the Edinburgh Festival 2014.
BBC Arts
Kelpie Creatives remit was to manage the design, build and launch of this new digital platform. It had to be capable of serving a wide range of content on a mobile first approach. This included performance video’s of up to two hours in length.
To ensure the timescales were met, we embedded our lead digital consultant into the BBC’s Future Media team in Glasgow. We applied agile working methodologies, predominately Kanban alongside Jira to mange a development team based in Scotland, India and England.
We had a 16 week delivery window with a fixed deadline for our minimum viable product (MVP). Once the team were up and running, we were releasing changes twice a week, with an average test score of 97%. The quality and pace of work was high. The team delivered on time to ensure accurate coverage from the Edinburgh International Festival and allow the Director General to announce this exciting new Arts portal to the public.
Once the platform was complete and live, it was handed over to an internal BAU team for a series of continued iterations and enhancements.
